"Nosotros'll Come across Again" is a 1939 song by English language vocalizer Vera Lynn with music and lyrics composed and written by English language songwriters Ross Parker and Hughie Charles. The song is one of the most famous of the Second World War era, and resonated with soldiers going off to fight besides as their families and loved ones.

The vocal was published by Michael Ross Limited, whose directors included Louis Carris, Ross Parker and Norman Peachy. Bully, an English pianist as well collaborated with Parker and Hughie Charles on "We'll Come across Again" and many other songs published by the visitor, including "There'll Ever Be an England" and "I'm In Honey For The Concluding Time". The song's original recording featured Lynn accompanied by Arthur Immature on Novachord (an early on synthesizer), while a rerecording in 1953 featured a more than lavish instrumentation and a chorus of British Military personnel.[one] [2]

The vocal gave its name to the 1943 musical picture show Nosotros'll Meet Again in which Lynn played the pb role (see 1943 in music). Lynn's 1953 recording is featured in the final scene of Stanley Kubrick's 1964 film Dr. Strangelove – with a bitter irony, as the song accompanies a nuclear holocaust that wipes out humanity. It was also used in the closing scenes of the 1986 BBC television set series The Singing Detective. British director John Schlesinger used the vocal in his 1979 World War Ii pic Yanks, which is about British citizens and American soldiers during the military buildup in the United kingdom equally the Allies prepare for the Normandy landings.

During the Cold War, Lynn'southward recording was included in the package of music and programmes held in 20 cloak-and-dagger radio stations of the BBC's Wartime Broadcasting Service (WTBS), designed to provide public information and morale-boosting broadcasts for 100 days after a nuclear assail.[3] The song reached number 29 on the U.S. charts. Lynn sang the song in London on the 60th anniversary of VE Day in 2005.

In Apr 2020, a charity duet with Katherine Jenkins, released in 2014, reached number 72 on the United kingdom of great britain and northern ireland Singles Nautical chart, with gain going to National Health Service charities.   • Traditionally, this song is played on 5 May as a closure to the Liberation Day Concert in Amsterdam, to mark the terminate of World State of war II in the Netherlands, equally the monarch leaves the concert on a canal gunkhole.[6]
  • The Byrds recorded the song as the endmost rail of their debut album Mr. Tambourine Man in 1965, inspired by the vocal's use in Dr. Strangelove. The credit reversed their first names.[7]

  • On the final episode of The Colbert Report, the vocal was sung past Stephen Colbert in a more upbeat tempo with members of his family and an assembled crowd of many of his most prominent guests.[nine] [x]
  • The song was sung past Alfie Boe and Katherine Jenkins during the concluding performance at VE Day 70: A Party to Recollect at Horse Guards Parade in London in 2015.[11]
  • On the pic Kong: Skull Island, John C. Reilly's character starts singing the song to a movie of his wife whom he has not seen in decades, as he is on the way to be rescued. Vera Lynn's version then starts playing and is as well featured in the soundtrack anthology.[12]
  • The first trailer of season 3 of Westworld uses the song as the theme of the trailer.[13] A vocal with same name composited past Ramin Djawadi is also used in the concluding episode of season 2.
  • On the blithe tv set show Gravity Falls, the main adversary of the series, Bill Zilch, sings it in the episode "Weirdmageddon iii: Accept Back the Falls".
  • In Episode 6 of the French animated serial The Long Long Holiday, Colonel Douglas sings the song to Gaston.
  • At the terminate of the moving picture Dr. Strangelove, the song is played over footage of nuclear detonations.
  • In the final episode to the animated serial Freakazoid, "Normadeus", it ends with the unabridged cast coming out in a grouping rendition of the vocal.

  • The Vera Lynn recording plays over the terminal cutscene of the Zombies fashion of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
  • The song plays at the start of the credits in Far Cry v, after attaining the Nuclear Catastrophe.
  • In Castle season vi episode nine, the Vera Lynn recording is heard on a tape left behind for Castle and Beckett.[15]

  • On her last radio show, NPR host Liane Hansen quoted the song in her goodbye address to listeners.[xvi]
  • On five April 2020, Queen Elizabeth Ii referenced the vocal in a rare televised address that aired to Great britain and the Commonwealth, where she expressed her gratitude for the efforts people are taking to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic virus and acknowledged the severe challenges being faced past families across the globe.[17] The reference spurred covers by West End theatre stars with Lynn,[xviii] Katherine Jenkins with Lynn,[nineteen] and by elevate queens.[20] Jenkins' version was released on iTunes as a benefit for the NHS Charities Together.[19]
  • A reference to the song appears on the 1979 Pink Floyd album The Wall. The song "Vera" invokes the themes of "We'll Meet Again", asking the listener: "Does anybody here recollect Vera Lynn? / Remember how she said that we would see over again? / Some sunny day".
